What's Next For Robbie Keane?
Keane has had an illustrious career to say the least, plying his trade with the likes of Inter Milan, Leeds and Liverpool and has scored over 200 goals for club and country. An Irishman from Malahide, hopes were high when he was recruited by Wolverhampton Wanderers. He stayed at the Molineaux for 3 seasons before making the move to Coventry for a fee of £6 million, a British record for a teenager. Keane once again bounced clubs as he left the sky Blues for a sensational move to Inter Milan. Keane endured a turbulent start for Milan and life in Italy was rocky for the Irish lad so when Leeds came knocking in 2001 Keane couldn't have been happier. Keane had enjoyed his first stint in Leeds but when the move was made permanent he struggled for form and when Leeds were in the midst of a finance crisis, he was offloaded to Tottenham. Keane had arguably his best ever football with the London side and has scored over 90 goals since joining in 2002.
His Irish teammates are also in crisis at their respective clubs as in the past year we've seen Shay Given, Damien Duff, Glen Whelan and Kevin Kilbane all fall out and lose their coveted first place spots. It's a positive for Irish football though, as it will give Trappatoni fresh opportunities to inject some young blood into the side with Darron Gibson and Anthony Stokes eagerly waiting in the wings.
