United Make An Audacious Attempt For Pepe Reina

I can't believe this story. As I was reading up on the transfer news I stumbled across this and it immediately caught my eye.

The Daily Mail have reported that Sir Alex has been given £50 million to spend in this upcoming January and he is targeting Liverpool number one Pepe Reina in an audacious attempt to lure him to Old Trafford and replace Van Der Sar when he decides to call it a day.

Although I can see the logic I cannot see Hodgson selling one of his most prized assets to a rival club, its nonsense. It's like saying Fernando Torres will move to Arsenal.

United have been busy tracking down keepers to replace the veteran Van Der Sar, and have already snapped up new up and coming Danish keeper Andres Lindergard. Quite drastically, he's already been predicted as the 'next Peter Schmichael'.

United are in search for a new first team keeper and have also been linked with Manchester City outcast Shay Given & Bayern Leverkusen keeper Rene Adler. Shay is an exceptional keeper when on his game and would be a great signing for Fergie & co. It would definitely revive his career and at only 34, he's coming to an end in his career.

Van Der Sar is set to retire come the end of this year and there are rumors that he might take up a coaching role at United, having been situated in the Premier League for over ten years, possessing vast amounts of experience.
