Former Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg has been contacted by Celtic manager Neil Lennon in an attempt to revive the Swedes career with a move to Pride Park.
Ljungberg was hampered by injuries at West Ham and when he moved to America he regained fitness, abstained from injury and played 27 games for Chicago Fire & the Seattle Sounders in the MLS last season.
Ljungberg was released by Chicago Fire in the summer, placing various clubs on high alert. Contact was made with Lennon about "3-4 weeks ago" and it was an exciting prospect for the former Celtic manager. Lennon had massive amounts of praise for the 34 year old and is convinced that Ljungberg can still produce the goods although he does lack the pace he used to posses.
